Independent, Tribunal‑Ready Reports To Strengthen Your Case
When the EHCP process feels confusing, slow, or unfair, you need clarity you can trust.
Our independent assessments give you clear evidence, legally aligned recommendations, and the confidence to secure the support your child deserves.
Accepted by Surrey County Council and neighbouring local authorities.
Why Choose An Independent EHCP Assessment?
Local authorities and tribunals rely on clear, specific, and quantified evidence. Many EHCPs contain vague or incomplete descriptions of need — which leads to weak or unsuitable provision.
Our assessments provide:
A detailed, holistic understanding of your child’s communication profile
Clear, precise, tribunal‑ready reporting
Legally enforceable recommendations for Section B (needs) and Section F (provision)
Independent evidence that local authorities must take seriously
Who is this for?
Families starting the EHCP process
Families who have been refused an EHCP
Parents preparing for a SEND Tribunal or appeal
Children whose current EHCP doesn’t reflect their communication needs
Parents seeking an independent second opinion
Legal representatives needing high‑quality clinical evidence
Schools wanting clarity on how to support a child effectively

Frequently Asked Questions
-
It is a thorough assessment of your child's communication skills, carried out by a qualified speech and language therapist outside of the NHS. The therapist looks at how your child speaks, understands language, uses words and sentences, and how they communicate with other people. At the end, you get a detailed written report that explains what your child finds difficult and what support they need. This report can be used as evidence in your child's EHCP process.
-
HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council) and members of the RCSLT (Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists) are fully qualified to write reports for EHCP purposes. Local authorities are legally required to consider professional reports from independent therapists as part of the assessment process.
-
Yes. The local authority must consider any professional evidence submitted during an EHCP needs assessment — this includes reports from private or independent therapists. Surrey County Council and most surrounding local authorities regularly accept reports from independent, HCPC-registered speech and language therapists. A good report makes their job easier, not harder.
-
Once we have had your free 15-minute consultation and booked your child's assessment session, we aim to get you a full written report within 3 weeks. If you are working to a tight deadline (for example, if your child's EHCP deadline is approaching), let us know and we will do our best to fast-track.
-
Our EHCP assessment and report packages start from £1200. This includes the full assessment session with your child, all standardised testing, and a complete written report with specific recommendations for your child's EHCP. We will always give you a clear quote before you book — no hidden extras.
-
A good EHCP speech therapy report should clearly describe your child's strengths, the areas they find difficult, the results from any tests used (with scores explained in plain English), and specific, quantified recommendations for Section F of the EHCP. Quantified means it should say things like 'three x 30-minute sessions per week' rather than vague statements like 'regular therapy.' We write all our reports in plain language that parents, teachers and local authority officers can all understand.
-
Yes. We can carry out an updated assessment or a review of your child's existing EHCP and write a new report highlighting what has changed and what additional support your child now needs. This is often used at annual reviews when parents feel the current plan is not working.
-
Yes. We can assess your child at our clinic, at their school, or at your home — whichever works best for them. For young children especially, being in a familiar environment often leads to a more accurate picture of their abilities. Travel fees may apply for locations outside our usual coverage area.
-
Yes. We have experience working with children who have autism, ADHD, developmental language disorder (DLD), and a range of other complex needs. We know how to make assessments accessible for children who find formal testing situations difficult, and we will adapt our approach to suit your child.
-
After the assessment, we write your child's report and send it to you for review before it is finalised. We then have a follow-up call to walk you through the findings. You can use the report to submit to your local authority, share with your child's school, or use in an EHCP appeal if needed.
-
Yes. A strong independent report from a qualified speech therapist is one of the most valuable pieces of evidence you can have in an EHCP appeal. The report will set out clearly what your child's needs are and why they cannot be met without an EHCP. More than 90% of EHCP appeals that go to tribunal are won — and a clear, professional report gives you a very strong foundation.
