Private EHCP Speech Therapy Assessments in Surrey
Expert reports that strengthen your case
When a child’s needs aren’t fully understood or reflected in the evidence for an EHCP, children lose out on valuable, life changing provision. At Speech Boom, we provide private, independent speech and language therapy assessments that can be used as evidence in your child's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). Our reports are thorough, clearly written, and accepted by Surrey County Council and neighbouring local authorities.
What is an EHCP Assessment?
An EHCP assessment is a detailed look at how your child communicates — what they find easy, what they find hard, and what support they need at school.
When a speech and language therapist writes an assessment report for an EHCP, it becomes an important piece of evidence that the local authority must take seriously.
Our report will cover your child's speech sounds, attention, understanding of language, use of language, social communication, and any other areas of concern.
The final report is written to tribunal ready standard: precise, evidence based and aligned with legal requirements for Section B (needs) and Section F (provision).
Why does an independent EHCP assessment matter for your child?
The council and tribunal panel rely on clear, specific, and quantified evidence. Many existing EHCPs contain vague or incomplete descriptions of needs, which can lead to insufficient or inappropriate provision.
Our EHCP tribunal‑ready assessment ensures that:
Needs are described accurately, holistically, and in plain language.
Provision is specific, measurable, and legally enforceable.
Recommendations reflect both the child’s strengths and the support required for meaningful progress.
Families have a robust, independent clinical document that stands up to scrutiny.
Councils take tribunal ready reports more seriously.
Who Is This For?
Families at the beginning of an EHCP process
Families who have been turned down for EHCP
Families preparing for a SEND Tribunal and/or appeal
Children and young people whose current EHCP does not reflect their communication needs.
Parents seeking an independent second opinion on what support your child should be getting.
Legal representatives or advocates requiring clear, high‑quality clinical evidence.
Schools wanting clarity on how to support a child effectively and sustainably.

What Happens After Your EHCP Assessment at Speech Boom?
The assessment is not the end. Here is exactly what happens next — and how we make sure the work we do together has a real impact on your child's plan.
Step 1
After meeting your child and gather all the evidence, we walk you through it together. We book a follow-up call to go through the findings in plain English. Not jargon, not acronyms — just a clear explanation of what we found, what it means for your child right now, and what the recommendations say. You will leave the call knowing exactly what to do next.
Step 2
You receive your draft report. We send you your child's report to read through before it is finalised. If something does not sound right, or you want us to look at something again, we do. It is your child's report — you should be able to stand behind every word of it.
Step 3
We can stay involved long-term. If your child needs ongoing speech and language therapy to work on the targets in their EHCP, we offer that too. You do not need to start all over again with a new therapist who has never met your child, wasting time and money.
Optional extras
We help you submit and use it. Whether you are sending the report to Surrey County Council as part of an EHCP application, responding to a needs assessment request, appealing a decision, or updating your child's existing plan, we can advise on how to use the report to maximum effect.
We can attend meetings. If you have an EHCP annual review, a planning meeting with the local authority, or a meeting with school and you want professional support in the room, we can attend — either in person or remotely — on your behalf.
Ongoing Therapy and Support after your EHCP
Therapy after your EHCP - We stay with You
For many families, the EHCP assessment is the beginning of a much longer journey. The report sets out what your child needs — and then someone has to actually deliver it.
At Speech Boom, we can be that someone. The same team who carried out your child's assessment can go on to provide the speech and language therapy recommended in their EHCP. That continuity matters. Your child is not starting over with a stranger. We already know their profile, their strengths, their challenges, and how they communicate. We pick up exactly where the assessment left off.
Our therapy offer after an EHCP includes:
EHCP target work — working directly on the speech and language targets written into your child's plan, with reports for annual reviews.
Communication and language development — for children with DLD, delayed language, speech sound difficulties, or complex communication needs.
Social communication and pragmatics — particularly relevant for autistic children or those with social communication disorder.
Executive function support — for students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, speech and language disorders.
Literacy support — Rachel on our team holds a Master's in Dyslexia assessment and diagnosis, making Speech Boom one of the only clinics in Surrey that can address reading and language difficulties alongside EHCP speech therapy in one place.
AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) — for children who use communication aids, symbol systems or technology as part of their EHCP provision.
Parent and school coaching — practical strategies for home and classroom, so that the progress made in sessions is reinforced everywhere else.
Annual review reports — an updated professional report to support your child's EHCP review, reflecting their progress and current needs
All therapy sessions are tailored to your child's individual plan and delivered by our qualified team. We liaise with schools and attend annual reviews on request.
Individual therapy sessions from £55 - £107
